The twenty-five massive, Alco-built, 4000-class, 4-8-8-4 Big Boys - the iconic Union Pacific steam locomotives - manufactured between 1941 and 1944 played a key role in hauling vital war materiel throughout World War II and were among the last steam locomotives taken out of service in the late 1950s. This beautifully hand-weathered, HO scale model of the legendary 4-8-8-4 articulated features built-in DCC and sounds - such as compressor, injector, safety valve, whistle, bell and others - with a LokSound decoder and speaker; a die cast metal chassis; dual brass flywheels for smooth operation; operating headlights; numerous factory-fitted details, including a nicely-outfitted cab; a realistic centipede tender; magnetically operated knuckle couplers; and authentic markings.
