In order to meet stricter diesel locomotive emissions standards imposed by the EPA, EMD modified the SD70MAC in the early 2000s to create the SD70ACe.

A replica of an SD70ACe locomotive, this newly tooled, HO scale Bachmann model features built-in DCC and Sound Value - including prime mover, three air horns, and a bell - for added realism, a dynamically balanced motor with dual brass flywheels, a fully outfitted cab, working head and ditch lights, a brass horn, wire grab irons and metal lift rings, photo-etched intake grilles and walkways, see-through fans and realistic fuel tanks, all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, detailed trucks with RP25 metal wheels, magnetically operated knuckle couplers, an authentic Erie paint scheme, and more. Measures 10¼" long and arrives ready to run.
